postheadericon Twelve Days of Christmas - Day 4

Ack! I'm slacking over here. I gotta get going or I may not get done by Christmas!

"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night.
An angel of the Lord appeared to them,
and the glory of the Lord shone around them,
and they were terrified."
- Luke 2:8-9

Can you even imagine what it would be like to have "the glory of the Lord" shine around you?! Oh my goodness! I have gorgeous images in my head. Light and beauty and singing and laughter. But the shepherds are terrified. It must be so bright, so big, so great that they are stunned and afraid.

I was needing some encouragement earlier today and sometimes I can find little nuggets on Facebook. Today it came in the form of a previously scheduled post on our church Facebook page. That, of course, means that I posted it, but it was over a week ago. Funny how God works. Anyway, here's the verse that brought tears to my eyes today...in a good way!

"I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying,
'Look, God's home is now among his people!
He will live with them, and they will be his people.
God himself will be with them.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes,
and there will be no more death or sorrow
or crying or pain.
All these things are gone forever.'"
- Revelation 21:3-4

We can hold fim to this promise. His Kingdom will Come. And it all started those thousands of years ago. When the shepherds were terrified in the field. When the angels came in all the glory and splendor of the Lord. It's really pretty awesome!

And here's a bonus for you today :) Check out this video by Rend Collective. I totally love it! And I was singing it all day as I thought about this passage. Great message, great song. Enjoy!
